EU Approves €3.26B for France’s Green and Digital Reforms

The European Commission has approved a €3.26 billion payment to France under the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), confirming that the country has met all required milestones for this fourth installment of funding.

“France has fulfilled the milestones and targets required for this payment, financed under the Recovery and Resilience Facility, the key instrument of NextGenerationEU,” the Commission stated.

The disbursement supports 11 investment projects and two structural reforms aimed at boosting sustainability, digitalization, and economic competitiveness.

Key initiatives include:

  • Digitalization in education: 1.7 million students now benefit from enhanced digital learning tools.
  • Energy efficiency: Over 8.75 million m² of public buildings renovated and 680+ schools upgraded for sustainability.
  • Governance reforms: Focus on reducing urban emissions and improving public spending transparency.

Pending a positive opinion from the EU’s Economic and Financial Committee, the funds will be formally released, reinforcing France’s role in the EU’s green and digital transition.
